Problem
What do you do when your EZ-VOTE 5 keypad shows "L" on the display and flashes a number, e.g. "01"? This is what's called a "Free Mode" when the keypad is expecting you to choose a channel that the base receiver is programmed to. However, Meridia programs the keypads ahead of shipping, so this mode is unnecessary.
How did you get here?
"L" is displayed, when you long-press (at least three seconds) the "5/E" button.
Solution
Since you cannot vote with the keypad in "Free Mode", you will need to get out of it.
Push the number "1" and then press "SEND" (the paper plane icon) to exit the "Free Mode" and go back to voting.
First, a "F" will appear and then disappear.
At this point, the antenna (signal strength) icon will come back, which means the keypad found the receiver. Keep in mind, for this to work, the receiver must be plugged into the computer.
Finally, after the "F" disappears, you will just see the antenna icon with X number of bars and you can vote normally.
