How to Create a Self-Paced Polling Session

Modified on Tue, 24 Dec 2019 at 11:40 AM

Using CloudVOTE, you can create and initiate a self-paced polling session which does not require an Operator to control the flow of the slideshow.

Participants can navigate through the slides and answer any polling questions on their own, at their own convenience, from their own devices.

To create a Self-Paced Session, simply create a PowerPoint presentation like you would for any other session. Upload the PPTX file to your CloudVOTE account and during the Slide Review process, check the "Self-Paced" box from the Change Template Settings section:

Scroll down and make sure that your slides are defined as "Question" wherever needed, and set any other parameters that you want the slide(s) to have, such as Conditional Branching, Required, or Free Form:

Once finished, go back out to your Content page and select a Participant Group that should be associated with this Template (create a Participant Group in the Participants section of your CloudVOTE account):

Finally, start the polling session like you would any other one, but expect a different view once you're in the Operator View - instead of navigation controls, you'll just see a list of slides and any data collected against each.

You'll also see the pending incoming Participant requests at the top left section and the current progress of anyone who is answering, or has finished the session:

Remember: Keep the browser window open in order for the session to stay active/open.

We're working on a new feature that will allow scheduling a self-paced session so that you can "set it and forget it" and your browser doesn't have to be open for it to allow Participants to join and finish their session on their own.
