PROBLEM
You have one or multiple 'fixed match' (or Closed Mode) base receivers and want to make sure that if one fails, or breaks, your keypads will seamlessly work with another receiver that you designate as a backup.
SOLUTION
In a 'free match' situation (or Open Mode), you would never have this problem, because "any receiver works with any keypad", but then you wouldn't be able to operate two voting systems near each other (~500ft) at the same time.
So you configured, or received the system pre-configured as 'fixed match' and you went through the painstaking process of matching each keypad to the receiver you want/need. If your primary receiver breaks, you'd have to manually re-match all the keypads to a new receiver or you would have created a backup file that you simply restore into the new (backup) base receiver.
BACKUP
To backup the configuration (along with a "Match Code") of the primary base, open the Toolkit app, let it connect to the base via USB and navigate to the Base Backup tab. Then click Backup and save the (XML) file in a location where you will be able to find it later. You can rename the file, if you want, just remember that the name should be expressive of what it does.
Open the resulting XML file in Notepad (right-click the file and select Open With -- Notepad), so you can edit it, if necessary. Verify that the Match Code section does NOT contain the string: "AABBCCDD". If it does, follow the Troubleshooting steps below.
RESTORE
To restore the backup (and make the keypads work with the new/replacement base), click the Restore button, find the XML file that was created during the backup and you should get a "Configuration restored successfully" message:
TROUBLESHOOTING
Sometimes, the backup program creates a XML file that contains an incorrect 'Match Code' (in a format AABBCCDD).
This can be fixed manually and the backup will be corrected.
Just change the AABBCCDD string into the last 8 digits of the base serial number. The serial number can be found on the back of the receiver, under the barcode, or inside the Toolkit app, at the bottom, in the Status Bar:
If my serial number is 2023090047, then the Match Code will be: 23090047.
