EZ-VOTE 2 (Meridia tab) doesn't show in PowerPoint

[This Solution applies to an older EZ-VOTE 2 Plugin. If you are using EZ-VOTE Connect, please see the linked articles at the bottom.]

There are a few reasons why the Meridia tab is missing from the PowerPoint ribbon.

1.) Your installation was 'blocked' because you don't have sufficient rights on your computer. You need to be a local administrator in order to install EZ-VOTE.

To find out if you are, find the "EZ-VOTE2.exe" file that you downloaded from our AppCenter.

Right-click on it and if you can see the "Run as Administrator" option near the top, click on it.

If you ARE an administrator, you should not get any other prompts after that.

If you do, however, get a prompt for username and password, you can still install the software successfully if:

- you know the appropriate login

- your IT person can do this for you

2.) If you need IT to install EZ-VOTE for you, ask them to use the "Anyone who uses this computer (all users)" option as shown below.

This is important, because if you are the person logged into the computer (Windows OS) locally, but your IT bypasses your login by using theirs, they need to make sure that the installation is available to everyone using the computer.

3.) Sometimes, even after a successful installation, the EZ-VOTE plugin (add-in) is disabled and needs to be turned on/started.

If this happens, you still need to be a local admin, or have the IT department allow the plugin to start.

You can do this from within PowerPoint Options. First, open PowerPoint and go to the File menu.

Then, navigate to Options.

From the Options menu, click on the Add-Ins section on the left and click the Go button next to COM Add-Ins drop-down.

Finally, put a checkmark next to EZ-VOTE and click OK.

There are times when even after you put the checkmark next to EZ-VOTE and click OK, the Meridia tab does not show up. When go back to the COM Add-Ins screen, you can see it disabled again. This is most likely caused by a conflict with another program (another add-in, anti-virus or other security-related software, or specific settings on your corporate network). Consult your IT for more information.
