If you are experiencing crashes right at the splash screen when you try to launch PowerPoint, here is something we've found that helps prevent that from happening again. Your UAC settings may be set too high...we've had success with resolving the crashing issue by changing the UAC (User Action Control) settings to their lowest level. This particular fix is for Windows Vista, 7 and 8.
First, try to disable your Security software to see if that prevents the crashing issue...if that doesn't work, continue with this article.
To access the User Action Control settings open up your Control Panel window....Click on Start menu in lower left and locate Control Panel
In Control Panel window, locate and click on User Accounts
When the User Account Control Settings window opens, go ahead and adjust to the lowest settings by dragging the slide to the bottom or Never Notify.
Some notes on Never Notify setting below.
-
This is the least secure setting. When you set UAC to never notify, you open up your computer to potential security risks.
-
If you set UAC to never notify, you should be careful about which programs you run, because they'll have the same access to the computer as you do. This includes reading and making changes to protected system areas, your personal data, saved files, and anything else stored on the computer. Programs will also be able to communicate and transfer information to and from anything your computer connects with, including the Internet.
