If you're using the checkmark icon to identify the correct answer on your slides, you generally don't want it to be shown before your audience gets to vote on the question.
It's completely normal for it to be visible in Design Mode, though. We need you to see the checkmark, just like a chart that shows 50%, even though there is no data collected on the slide yet:
This is because while you're 'designing' your slide, you need something to identify the object, its color, position, etc...
However, you shouldn't ever see the correct answer indicator (checkmark) on the slide when you arrive to it and ask your audience to vote on it:
If you ever find that for some reason, the checkmark does 'flash' in front of the audience just as polling is being opened, you may want to:
- close all running applications that are not related to audience polling, or your presentation. This will increase the memory available to PowerPoint and it should make it run faster, thus speeding up the process of hiding the checkmark.
- in Design Mode, click EZ-VOTE (tab) --> Tools --> Reset ARS Data
