Brief overview of ProVOTE 2 keypads

Modified on Wed, 06 Dec 2017 at 10:01 PM

The ProVOTE 2 keypads are single digit, LCD keypads for simple polling.  Their large, back-lit LCD screen is ideal for low light situations.  ProVOTE 2 keypads are matched to ONE BASE ONLY and cannot be changed by the user.  Like all other Meridia bases, they must be activated before operation.  If there is no option for the base to vote on (if polling is not open), but the base is connected to a computer, it  will show a "-" (dash) in the middle of the LCD.  If no base is detected and you press a button a "_" (underscore) will appear and blink for a few seconds then a red "E" (error) will flash on the screen:

The keypads will ONLY display numbers when activated and have a valid response available to them.

If you find that the ProVOTE 2 keypads show a "-" (dash) regardless of whether you're pushing a valid answer, or if you're testing the keypads in the Base Manager (click Test Keypads), then you need to reset the base.

First, go to EZ-VOTE/Meridia tab in PowerPoint --> Tools --> Base Manager:

In Base Manager, click the Advanced Settings button (1), check the Read Default SN box (2) and click Apply Settings (3). You may also adjust your keypad range, so that the base can collect the votes from the keypads faster.

If you only have 100 keypads, the range should be set to 1 - 100, so that the base doesn't have to check for votes in the remaining block of 101 - 500 keypads that don't exist:

Your new settings should be visually confirmed in the Status window on the right:

When you're done, click the Test Keypads button, adjust your voting grid size to match the keypad numbers you're going to use for testing and watch the keypad numbers in the grid light up as you vote:
