Problem
Base (and inherently keypads) stop working. Base gets disconnected.
Solution
If you put your computer to sleep, your ports, display and many other things go to sleep. So when you wake it up again, everything has to reconnect.
In case of the USB base receiver, the process isn't automatic. You have to go through the auto-detection again, in order to re-initiate the connection between the hardware and the software.
When you connect a base and start a polling session in any of the Connect apps, do NOT close the lid on the laptop.
Do not run your session without having the computer plugged-in (computers typically go to sleep much faster on battery power).
Do not push the Sleep button.
And if you do that anyway...just know that you'll have to close the session and restart it, re-initiate (detect) the base receiver and you're back in action.
Our preferred Power Settings are such that if you're running on battery power, you can let the computer sleep to save the juice.
But you would never run a live session on whatever is left in the battery, right?
So when you're plugged in and charging, you can turn off the Sleep period completely.
Turning off your screen (when the screen goes dark, but the computer is still awake) should not have any effect on the base receiver and Meridia software connectivity, but we recommend that you experiment with this before your live session.
This is a Power & Sleep menu in Windows 10. Other versions of Windows have something similar in their own Control Panel:
