EZ-PRESENTER cannot import slides from my PPTX file

Modified on Thu, Sep 18, 2014 at 11:39 AM

Problem:
EZ-PRESENTER gives me an error: "Problem encountered while trying to load data from Office file. Please be sure you have specified a compatible Office file."
(see attachment)
If this error message ends with: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." then the problem might be that Office is not installed at all.
(see attachment)

Solution:
A: Please check that you have PowerPoint 2007 or higher installed on your computer.

B:  Check if the file you're trying to load has the 'PowerPoint 2007 or 2010' extension: PPTX. If it does not, re-save the file in this format via File --> Save As... menu.

C:  Check if the file is open by another application/process. Look for another PowerPoint window, or in Task Manager, a "POWERPNT.EXE" process. Terminate any instance of the application/process before retrying to load the PPTX file into EZ-PRESENTER.

D: Try to create a new PPTX file (with some test question slides) and open it in EZ-PRESENTER.

E: Delete the EZ-PRESENTER folder under My Documents --> Meridia folder and re-run EZ-PRESENTER.

F:
In some cases, the problem is caused by the slideshow Page Setup being set to "Custom" size/aspect ratio. Please set your Page aspect ratio to a standard value of 4:30, 16:9 or 16:10. See related articles below for more detail.
